I’m Ineka. I became a mother at 23 - a time in life where I was still forming my own identity, let alone learning how to hold the responsibility of another human being. What followed was not the ease or joy I had expected, but a period of profound emotional struggle. I experienced postnatal depression and found myself navigating a quiet, internal world of overwhelm, disconnection, and uncertainty.
What was most striking was not just the difficulty of that experience, but how hard it was to find the kind of support I truly needed. Much of what was available felt either too clinical, too fragmented, or disconnected from the lived reality of early motherhood. I wasn’t just looking for symptom relief - I needed to be understood, held, and supported in rebuilding a sense of self within this new role.
Over time, through therapeutic work, self-inquiry, and support, I was able to move toward a more integrated and grounded experience of motherhood. Not perfect, but connected. Not without challenge, but resourced, aware, and deeply anchored in myself.
Motherwell was created from this lived experience.
It exists to offer mothers the kind of support I was searching for - care that recognises the emotional, relational, and identity shifts that come with early motherhood. Whether through acute, structured support in the six-week Motherwell program, or ongoing online therapeutic sessions, the intention is the same: to provide a space where mothers can feel seen, supported, and gently guided back to themselves.
